What is a climbing wall?
The first climbing walls were built by rock climbers to train on during the winter months, but climbing on artificial walls has now become an activity in its own right. Walls are built to provide a safe and controlled environment that enable people from a full spectrum of ages and abilities to experience the challenge and thrill of climbing.
Climbing walls can be freestanding or built onto an existing structure, typically a building. The climbing surface is made from high quality plywood with a friction coating. The climber ascends the wall using holds that are bolted to the wall’s surface to create climbing routes of varying difficulty. These can be changed, to offer new challenges, as often as required, typically every few months, either by Zig Zag Climbing Walls or your own trained staff.
Climbing walls provide a safe, fun and challenging activity suitable for all ages and abilities!
